In this coaching course filmed exclusively for CV Academy, Brentford B assistant coach Sam Saunders takes his players through a series of practices designed to develop their ability to penetrate a low block.
The session begins with a practice that consists of a number of attacking patterns of play that train the players to use switches of play, wide overloads and quick combinations to break down a low block. The second practice is a break-out possession game that encourages the players to be patient in possession while also looking for opportunities to play centrally and through the lines to create goalscoring chances. This practice also stresses the importance of the counter-press when losing possession against a team in a low block.
