In the second part of his coaching course filmed exclusively for CV Academy, Brentford B assistant coach Sam Saunders gives his team a set number of attacks to beat a low block in an opposed scenario.
Saunders sets his players up in a 3-4-3 formation, to attack a defending team comprised of two banks of four and a goalkeeper. The attacking team work in three separate blocks, each of which sees them given 10 balls in which to break down the low block in front of them and score. The practice is set up to encourage the attacking team to use the principles covered in the first half of Saunders’ session, including creating and using wide overloads, central penetrations and an intense counter-press.
