In this small-group coaching session filmed exclusively for CV Academy, Hugh Ferguson of Calculated Performance – a private football coaching provider based in northwest England – works with three players to train their ability to transition from defence into attack.

The session begins with a two-box transition game that encourages the players to attack space quickly in transition and keep close control of the ball in a 1v1 situation. It progresses to include the option of a support player positioned outside the box in play, before again progressing so both the player in possession of the ball and the player trying to win the ball have a support player – either in possession or in transition, depending on who has the ball.

It’s another straightforward session that can be used with players at all levels from grassroots to elite. We hope you enjoy it!
