In this session filmed exclusively for CV Academy, Lauris Coggin – then the lead phase coach for the West Ham Under-15 and Under-16 age groups – delivers a series of practices designed to develop a team’s ability to control possession and create attacks through a double pivot in midfield.

After a dynamic warm-up led by physical development coach Julian Hensman, Coggin leads the players into a technical passing practice that emphasises quick combinations. The second practice is a themed possession game in which central neutral players act as a double pivot for whichever team has the ball. The session ends with a breakout game that starts in a possession box before the coached team progresses through the double pivot to attack a full-sized goal.

It’s a great session that gives a superb insight into building a set of practices around a specific position or principle. We hope you enjoy it!
