In this feature filmed exclusively for CV Academy, two coaches from the Newcastle United Academy present and explain a session they have designed for the Under-11 team. Stephen Harrison is the lead coach of the Newcastle Under-11 and Under-12 teams, and Gary Ives is the lead coach for the academy’s Under-9 and Under-10 teams. Here, they explain their roles within the academy, both on the pitch and off it, before talking through a four-practice session they have designed to focus on the loss-of-possession phase. They introduce each practice in detail, before reflecting on what they would expect from the players and the coaching points they would look to make as the session went on.
