In this coaching course filmed exclusively for CV Academy, Norwich City lead Under-23 coach David Wright takes the club’s professional development phase players through a series of four practices that cover a variety of key principles across the four moments of the game.

The session starts with an attacking wave practice led by the academy’s head of athletic performance Jay Eastoe-Smith, with a focus on high-speed running over large areas. It progresses to a possession game led by phase coach Alan Neilson, in which the focus is on both maintaining possession and then a strong counter-press once possession is lost. Wright then leads an 8v8 themed game before the players split into two groups to work on their individual learning plans, with Wright taking the full-backs and attackers in a pratice focusing on their technical quality in and around the box.

The course offers a great insight into the way the Norwich City Academy structures its coaching for the professional development phase, and is the third of three full sessions filmed exclusively for CV Academy.
