In this Coaching Clinic filmed exclusively for CV Academy, former Tottenham Hotspur assistant coach Sérgio Raimundo delivers a session on technical attacking skills.

Raimundo began his coaching career at Benfica’s academy in his native Portugal. Proficient in six languages, he has since coached in Senegal, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Scotland and England. It was in Australia that he began working with Nick Montgomery, assisting the English manager as Central Coast Mariners won a stunning A-League championship in 2023. After a spell with Montgomery at Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership, he joined Ange Postecoglou’s staff at Tottenham, winning the Europa League in 2025.

Here, he takes to the Coaches’ Voice tactics board to explain an intensive, small-space session used in Central Coast Mariners’ title-winning season. First, he reveals the thinking behind the set-up, which allows continuous play and empowers the players to find solutions. Then it is into the first two practices, which involve multifaceted exercises for two groups. The players then come together for a final practice that includes a wave game, crossing drills and S&C work. As well as the session’s technical attacking focus, it contains defensive work, while combining physical, tactical, psychological and social elements.
