We are very happy to present the on-demand version of Jordi Cruyff’s exclusive appearance at The Coaching Conference 2021.

The former Barcelona and Manchester United midfielder, now back at Barcelona as a sporting advisor, joined host David Jones for a fascinating hour-long session. He spoke about his own coaching journey, which has included spells managing in Israel and China – but focused mainly on the role of sporting director, which he inhabited with no little success at Maccabi Tel Aviv. He offered his thoughts on the relationship between sporting director and head coach, why the role is increasingly relevant in the modern game, and why the Premier League has been slow to embrace it. 

He also entertained the live audience with his insights into the differing approaches of two of the game’s most iconic coaches – his father Johan and Sir Alex Ferguson – before answering a number of questions from the floor.
