In this coaching course filmed exclusively for CV Academy, Hibernian head coach Jack Ross takes his first-team squad through a match-preparation session designed to develop their ability to switch play and attack in wide areas, exploit wide 2v1 overloads and recover defensively once an attack breaks down.
The session starts with a rondo that introduces the theme of switching play into wide areas. It progresses into a phase of play conditioned so the in-possession team repeatedly switches wide into 2v1 situations before recovering to protect central areas on a loss of possession. The final practice comprises a series of attacking patterns in which the team attacks in wide areas before taking shots on goal; second and third balls are fed in to further coach elements of finishing and defending on transition.
We hope you enjoy what is a fascinating session that gives a great insight into the approach of one of Scotland’s top coaches. Please also click on the Resources tab to access the accompanying session plan in PDF form.
